I saw the calico shopper in a local shop for 99p and decided to pop it onto that.
I backed the design with interfacing and used Bondaweb to place it sqarely onto the bag. I then stitched around it to make sure it would stay put and here it is.

Perfect! (or should that be purrfect?) You've given me an idea now - I have a chook cross stitch finished but unframed, that would look great on a calico bag that I just happen to have...
