Castles in the air - part 18

This part stitched up really easily. It would make a great "New Home" card too.

I can't decide which of my UFO's to have a go at now. I'll have to go and have a hunt through them and see whick takes my fancy.
Bye for now.

Bent Creek Snapper Year.

This is an awful pic so apologies in advance!!
I have added this into my rotation of stitching. I adore the design of it and am really keen to start February's square but Castles pt 18 must come first.

My first attempt at Hardanger.

I have being wanting to try this for ages after seeing some of the work my friends on a forum have been doing.
Here is my very first go.

It has Satin stitch, Kloster Blocks, cross stitch and back stitch in it.
All went well untill I cut the threads and then I found it hard to "hide" the cut ends. My pal tells me that it is because they show up too well against the dark blue perle and that if I had done it in cream then I wouldn't know. The edges are hemmed with Blanket stitch and although it isn't the neatest job in the world, I'm pretty chuffed with it.
It only took me two evenngs too so I think I may well do a bit more of this when I have finished my Ufo's.
Speaking of which, I have now started the next part of my Castles in the Air project and hope to be able to give you an update soon.
Bye for now.

TW's Peacock Tapestry UFO update

I first started this patern when I was pregnant with my daughter - she is 11 now!! - and gave up because of all the blended threads. Here is how I left it all those years ago.

I dug it out of the cupboard and had another go at it. It is still a real pain in the neck with all the blending - up to 3 different colours in the needle for several stitches and then change - but I am pleased with my progress.

Back in the drawer it goes because the next part of my Castles project is due out this week and I really want to stay up to date with that.
Thanks for dropping by.

TUSAL

I've just been over to visit Daffycat's Blog and there I saw her latest update on her TUSAL (Totally Useless Stitch A Long)
When I saw she was keeping it open for a couple more days to see if anyone else wanted to join in I decided that I couldn't resist, especially as I already keep my ORT's (Old Ratty Threads) for a full calendar year anyway.
So, here is my 1st update, these will happen each time there is a new moon throughout the year.
There doesn't look much to show but then the New Year is only 4 days old. There will be signifiantly more next month.
Why not pop over to Daffy cat's and see how everyone is getting on.
Bye for now and thanks for looking in.

2011 - The year of the UFO

Happy New Year everyone.

I have decided that this year is to be the year of the unfinished object!! I have at least 6 - Oh the shame - They have either been left alone because of confetti driving me crazy, run out of that colour floss, I got fed up or just left out because I wanted to do other things.

Anyway, here is the first update on an old project, it is of the Great Wall of China (my Hubby and I visited in 2008) It is absolutely confetti ridden and quite frankly, after completing another part of it, back in the cupboard it goes!!

The next one out for an airing is TW's Peacock Tapestry.
